Descripción
The research objective was to investigate the combined FSW and LSP techniques effectiveness on modifying the AA6061-T6 alloy properties. Material characterization through microstructural analysis, hardness testing and residual stress analysis was envisaged. Cold working conditions were considered for producing sound FSW joints, to enhance the process capabilities on inducing compressive stresses. LSP influence was investigated either on base metal and FSW joint. Residual stress measurements were made with ¿ - diffractometer, using sin2¿ method. Hole drilling method was used to evaluate residual stresses in depth. Correlation between the features of the residual stresses field and the material flow in the processed zone was of interest, as too.
