Flexible Assembly Systems through Workplace-Sharing and Time-Sharing Human-Machine Cooperation PISA is a four-year European Integrated Project of the Sixth Framework Programme 'Next Generation of Flexible Assembly Technology and Processes'. It is launched in September 2006 and involves eighteen partners from seven European countries that include four large companies, seven SME and seven research institutes. The aim of the project is to develop intelligent assist systems (IAS) that support human workers with qualified tools instead of replacing them. Such an integrative approach combines human creativity, intelligence, knowledge, flexibility, and skills as well as the advantages of sophisticated technical systems and tools, such as electronic and physical power, speed, and accuracy. The prime objective of the PISA project is to establish a new generation of modular flexible assembly methodology by developing concepts, formal methods, standards, and safety frameworks tools and underlining technologies to allow integration and cooperation between human workers and highly flexible devices and equipment in a qualitatively new and efficient manner. Therefore the aims of PISA are: * The development of a prototypical intelligent assist system (IAS) based on use-cases. * The introduction of novel IAS technology in order to fill the gap between manual and automated assembly. * Provide planning and integration tools in order to make this new technology applicable. * The re-configurability of assembly systems and the reusability of assembly equipment. | |
