Descripción
The ¿Project¿ concept, which presently embraces all professional fields, gets a multidisciplinary character and a multi-dimensional approach, considering technical, economic, social and environmental aspects, which work in an interrelated form and must be approached simultaneously. Project Manager is defined as a professional, who assumes the liability to give a final product or service, according to the specifications and which is done together with professionals of other areas. Undoubtedly, the Safety & Health Coordinator is linked to the project, in its conception and development, and also its execution, and is required, in order to manage the coordination of the preventing activities of any company in a building work, a specific training that includes technical, behavioural, or skill concepts within a performing context. This professional environment of the Project Management (PM), although started in the 1960¿s in USA, in the last years is having an important development in the whole World (Kerzner, 2000; De Cós, 1997; Caupin & Le Bissonais, 1998; Cleland & Gareis, 1990). Now, the PM is meant to have the knowledge, skills, tools and techniques application to project tasks to satisfy the project requirements (IPMA, 2001). Another definition, internationally accepted, is ¿the knowledge skills, tools and techniques application to plan the tasks that cover the project requirements¿ (PMI, 2000). To promote these professional field competences, some international associations have been created, such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the International Project Management Association (IPMA), grouping professionals devoted to Project Management of any kind. These associations have defined a common doctrine body1 where they outline the competences and basis so that any kind professional can certificate to get the competence on that professional field. The use of these bases to evaluate and develop the necessary competitions that the Safety & Health Coordinator must reunite in the exercise of his activity is one of the objectives of this line of investigation that is opened with this communication.
