Abstract
Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.) is an important fish for freshwater aquaculture in many countries, including Spain. Parasitic diseases are sporadic or periodic limiting factors in aquaculture production. Although aquatic mites do not normally cause pathologies in fish, under certain circumstances, mites can provoke accidental infections or infestations with important negative effects on fish health. In this work, we described a case report in which oribatid mites, Trhypochthoniellus longisetus, were involved in tilapia mortality.
