The process of incorporating new technology is not formalized in software (IT) industry. Apparently, software technologies are not tested, evaluated or classified acceptably making it difficult to precisely realize their efficacy and limitations. ESE attains a rigorous software engineering approach of gathering this information from experiments. Information from one experiment is not enough to form opinion information has to be accumulated into knowledge (evidence). The approach of accumulating information of experiments is known as aggregation. The quality of aggregated result depends on the quality of the experiments used in the aggregation. The results of experiments sometimes are inaccurate because they have methodological and execution flaws making them poor quality experiments depending on the degree and gravity of the flaws. Further, low quality experiments may bias the aggregated result of a systematic review providing wrong information for the industry. | |
