Current healthcare services show that in the medical area there are a lot of technological devices for diag-nosis, management and monitoring the health status. The healthcare industry is facing acute cost pressures because of relying on proprietary technologies. The open source develop-ment model could enable enterprises to efficiently amortize development costs with an ecosystem of partners, customers and competitors, providing value to the services and support for freely available software. Nowadays solutions based on interoperability are considered a basic strategy to improve medical care. This paper presents the SHARE project that aims at creating a knowledge framework within the Open Source Software applied to the eHealth sector, aiming at pro-moting the standardization in by providing different tools and resources for increasing the usage of OSS. | |
