Pathogens can condition the population dynamics of their hosts. Few studies on biodiversity and plant conservation programs consider the impact of pathogens on their host populations and the idea that viruses are often commensal or mutualistic in wild plant communities is common. We have approached the analysys of the impact of diseases caused by viruses in the dynamics of a threatened plant species, the wild pepper or chiltepín, and the relationship between virus incidence and host ecological conditions. | |
