Abstract
In the area of Genetics: Consolidation of the turbot genetic map using SNPs and microsatellites linked to ESTs (200 markers) to fulfill a total of 450 markers with a map density close to 4cM/marker. This map has been applied to identify QTLs associated with sex. A single major QTL was detected in LG 5 less than 2 cM from Sma-USC30 marker. A patent has been deposited and is being used with industry for precocious sex selection. Also, several significant QTLs have been detected associated to resistance to pathogens and growth. Comparative mapping with model fish species has been used to identify candidate genes. Functional genomics: study of the genes regulated in response to Aeromonas salmonicida and Philasterides dicentrarchi.
