Abstract
Microorganisms transcriptional responses to environmental perturbations are broad and complex and often involve regulatory cascades in which an interplay of transcriptional factors and other accessory elements trigger a specific expression program. DNA arrays have become a very powerful tool to obtain a global picture of gene expression in response to environmental stressors, growth phase, available nutrients, etc. In this chapter we describe the use of microarrays to study how Pseudomonas responds to hydrocarbons
