Abstract
The Bachelor Degree (BD) in the EEES involves the design of a series of general competences (GC) and specific competences (SC) that are to be developed by students as basic educational objectives of the learning process. The SC of the subjects related with Physical Activity and Sport Biomechanics (PASB) in the BD in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (PASS) will be designed considering the professional training that the future graduate will develop. Within BD-PASS, module II is oriented to acquiring ¿Basic training in health sciences¿ and PASB is a core subject with 6 ECTS. Knowledge of terminology, foundations and biomechanical principles is essential for graduates to improve their professional task in teaching and researching in physical activities, planning and control training, technique performance, prevention of injuries and achieving good health. While students are aware of these principles, they have serious difficulties in their application to basic motor skills and sports techniques acquisition. The purpose of this paper is to develop educational objectives and a programme that would reshape the existing PASB subject in order to facilitate to the student the learning of this discipline. To achieve this purpose, we have considered GC: acquiring concepts, skills and abilities, fitness and values; GC within BD-PASS and SC-PASB subject. Up to now, the PASB subject has been based on mechanical teaching procedures, where the knowledge of these principles is the main objective. However, according to the definition and the essence of Sports Biomechanics, which is the discipline that explains the movement based on mechanical principles considering the peculiarities of human body, we notice that Biomechanics is not Mechanics applied to Sports but a study of Sports Movement that uses the Mechanics. There is a recent discipline that must integrate these concepts using the mechanical principles as a tool, as an instrument of analysis, but keeping the movement as an object of study and not vice versa. This implies a revision in the programs of PASB subject in order to change the mentality of the teacher and to redirect the contents towards this clear objective. Therefore, our purpose is to teach students to acquire the ability to analyse basic motor skills using a methodology based on Qualitative Biomechanical Analysis (QBA). This methodology links the technical or motor skills concepts to the basic concepts of mechanics. Based on this, the purpose is to analyze basic motor skills: walking, running, jumping, throwing, turning, impact tasks, weightlifting and machines working, cycling and swimming activities. The motor skill, analyzed with QBA, classifies the available information in a conceptual map of efficacy indicators. It allows students an innovative assessment of the techniques applied to sports and encourages them to build up their own knowledge. This methodology will be associated to quantitative data selected from the bibliography, which gives the student an access to the scientific field of research. One of the learning tools we suggest is the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in particular, video clips of the skills as well as the Moodle platform. In conclusion, the proposed method will allow the student to acquire GC-PASS and SC-PASB subjects. This procedure will facilitate the understanding PSAB in order to develop professional skills and research capacities by using theirs own methods of Sports Biomechanics.
