This paperpresentsthepracticalexperienceofparallelizingasimulatorofgeneralscatteringand radiationelectromagneticproblems.Thesimulatorstemsfromanexistingsequentialsimulatorinthe frequencydomain,whichisbasedonafiniteelementanalysis.Aftertheanalysisofatestcase,two stepswerecarriedout:first,a``hand-crafted¿¿codeparallelizationofaconvolution-typeoperationwas developedwithinthekernelofthesimulator.Second,thesequentialHSLlibrary,usedintheexisting simulator,wasreplacedbytheparallelMUMPS(MUltifrontalMassivelyParallelsparsedirectSolver) libraryinordertosolvetheassociatedlinearalgebraprobleminparallel.Suchalibraryallowsforthe distributionofthefactorizedmatrixandsomeofthecomputationalloadamongtheavailable processors.Atestproblemandthreerealistic(intermsofthenumberofunknowns)caseshavebeen run usingtheparallelizedversionofthecode,andtheresultsarepresentedanddiscussedfocusingon the memoryusageandachievedspeed-up. | |
