| ACTION-Grid is the first European initiative ¿¿funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme¿¿ addressing the novel discipline of Nanoinformatics and its applications in Nanomedicine. While Biomedical Informatics (BMI) covered information processing and management, including issues ranging from the public health level down to the molecular level, Nanoinformatics extends this to include the nano level. Current research at this nano level adds a promising new field, augmenting, and drawing on decades of research and experience in BMI. It also aims to expand the current vision of the VPH. ACTION-Grid has also been envisioned as a multiplier of previous results in Grid and BMI, disseminating these results to Latin America, the Western Balkans and North Africa. It aimed at the creation of a collaborative framework among research groups working in different disciplines¿¿Medical Informatics, BMI, Grid Computing, Nanomedicine spanning a diverse range of geographical areas. | |
