Growing Cell Structures (GCS) is a SOM (Self-organizing map) model with a dynamic architecture, adding and eliminating neurons during the adaptation process of the artificial neural network (ANN). In this work a methodology to classify MODIS images, based on growing unsupervised self-organizing neural network (GCS-Growing Cell Structures) is proposed and focused on monitoring of forest fire. All used images were corrected atmospherically, orthorectified and corrected topographically. Finally, maps obtained were contrasted with the fireman alert information. | |
