Abstract
• To study traffic accidents in depth using their own methodology • To determine the cause of traffic accidents and evaluate of mechanisms that provoke injuries. • To propose measures to reduce accidents and the number of victims through multivariable analysis based on an in-depth data base. • Cost-benefit studies of the proposed reduction measures.
RESEARCH ON TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS: ANALYSIS OF THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES
Abstract
• To develop and validate advanced mathematical models of the human body. • To verify and improve present crash test dummies regarding their bio-fidelity and their capability to predict injuries. • To develop new passive safety systems and verify existing ones through virtual and physical tests with the purpose of improving the protection afforded to persons.
IMPACT BIOMECHANICS APPLIED TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF PASSIVE SAFETY OF VEHICLES
Abstract
• To develop and test ADAS applications, focusing the research on Speed control and hazards detection (autonomous and external recognition) • To incorporate communication technologies into de above systems in order to provide the driver with more information and enhance the “electronic horizon” by vehicle positioning in digital maps.
ADAS ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
Abstract
To assess the safety impact on new vehicle technologies. • To analyse influential factors on road safety and risk groups. Development, maintenance and continual improvements of the model DRAG (Demand of Road Use, Accidents and their Gravity) in Spain. Trend Analysis. • Mobility research (intercity and urban) applied to traffic accident investigations, consumption and environment. • To assess risk factors from observed data on traffic accidents in order to evaluate the impact on new vehicle technologies focused on safety.
ASSESSING AND PREDICTING THE IMPACT OF ROAD TRANSPORT ON SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT. DEVELOPING AND APPLYING MODELS
Abstract
• To develop hybrid propulsion systems with hydrogen-powered fuel cells focused on applications in industrial and special vehicles in order to optimise consumption and reduce pollutant emissions. • To develop methodologies to determine emission factors linked to vehicles, propulsion technologies and fuels.
