During the design and prediction of the performance of airborne radar detectors in a maritime environment, sea clutter signals are needed. If not enough sea clutter signals are available, they can be simulated. This article shows the architecture and methods used to simulate dynamically the backscatter of the sea received by an airborne radar operating in a medium PRF. The described clutter generator matches the amplitude fluctuation distribution, temporal evolution (Doppler spectrum) and spatial correlation observed in experimental data. Three antenna channels have been considered (sum, guard and difference), as well as the existing correlation between the signals of the channels. | |
