PV receivers for large diameter parabolic dishes requiere a parquet of cells that must be actively cooled by means of a circulating fluid. The large irradiance levels, over 10 W/cm2, cast on the receiver requires usually finned wall metals like copper of aluminum for effective heat transference to a fluid: micro-mechanics of single-crystal silicon allows creating an effective micro-finned surface for heat transference and also to avoid any thermal expansion mismatch between the cell and the receiver substrate. Such receiver has been made, the thermal performance and power required for pumping calculated and measured at 100X level. Three concentrator cells have been soldered to the receiver, tested and later qualified in thermo cycling chambers. The performance of the silicon substrate receiver is demonstrated. | |
