Abstract
The production of peach improved in Chiautzingo, Puebla, is approximately 100 producers who have one hectare each. The presence of severe frost has affected the production and income, so it has resorted to loans from the City Council to purchase inputs. In this work aimed to develop a proposal for a model of local development, and its application in the case of Chiautzingo peach production. The model was made based on four elements, two in the rural context: scope of territorial action and social participation in an organized manner. And two others in the institutional context: knowledge generation and use of information, and technical and economic support to operate programs and finance productive projects. The application of the model began in a group of 52 producers, where by accompanying actions, it was possible to contribute to the process of organization. It provided the services of research, training, continuous technical advice, information, technology, plants, supplies, professional tool for pruning, spraying equipment. This was achieved through the interaction of the producers with staff of the Colegio de Postgraduados, City Council, State Board of Producers of Peach and the Ministry of Rural Development.
