Since the road tunnel directive 2004/54/EC came into effect, and its transposition to the norms of the countries members of the European Commission (EC), the budget for projects of adaptation of tunnels in service has been increased, focusing in the investment in facilities. The experience on the application of this norm, the analysis of accidents and incidents occurred and the simulations that were done, have allowed us to reach interesting conclusions from the point of view of the management of the infrastructure.
