A numerical and experimental study of the blood flow in coronary bifurcations after angioplasty is presented. Three different stenting techniques are considered for two bifurcation angles: 45º and 90º. Both steady and transient numerical simulations are carried out with the commercial code Fluent. Besides, experimental measurements with PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) for steady flow are made in the laboratory, and the results show a good agreement with the steady computational simulations. The areas affected by low wall shear stress, the pressure drop and vorticity have been used to compare the stenting techniques and to obtain the final conclusions. | |
