Datos
Descripción
Energy policies of developed countries are oriented towards sustainable development, combining the aim of increasing economic competitiveness with an improvement of the energy efficiency by integrating the environmental aspects and safety in the supply of combustibles. As an instrument to articulate and achieve the economic and environmental objectives we can include the following actions: the diversification of energy sources and the origin of the fuels used, the improvement of efficiency in energy use and sources of fuels used, the improvement of efficiency in energy use and conservation, and finally, research and development of new technologies that improve the performance of generation and distribution processes, and technologies that reduce environmental impact. The growing societal concern for environmental protection has led to the regulation of many industries, including energy sector, specifically the large combustion plants which they use fossil fuels: oil, natural gas and coal. The main environmental concern regarding to these facilities is a reference to air pollution: the acidifying gases and the greenhouse gases.
