| Although techniques for the improvement of the dehesa proposed towards the middle of the twentieth century covered a large number of fields of action, in this work we will stick to those related to plant breeding and fertilization of natural pastures. The objective of this study is to assess the results of the proposed improvements and the impact they have had on current ranching. La dehesa is the main agroforestry system of ranching in southwestern Europe. This work makes a critical review of approaches to improving rangelands management based on pastures establishment and nutrients from mid-20th century to nowadays. | |
