Influence of the thermal capacity of the hot active wall on the 2D transient free natural convection in diode cavities

Abstract
This study allows to examine the influence of the mass of the wall on the convective transfer inside a 2D parallelogram-shape enclosure. The local and mean Nusselt numbers are determined for each configuration as well as the maximum temperatures. A comparison with the case of a wall of negligible thickness is carried out showing that the combined conduction-convection-heat transfer is significant and cannot be neglected. This result is important for the design of engineering devices.
