The aim of this paper is to describe the measurement investigation carried out at (Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias? (ADIF?s) test site placed at O Eixo viaduct, in the Spanish Santiago-Ourense high speed railway line. This measurement investigation is intended to study the effect of the wind on railway overheads (catenaries) and the influence of the presence of windbreaks on the wind-induced motion of the railway overhead. Ultrasonic anemometers and accelerometers were used to measure wind speed and contact wire acceleration at the center point of three railway overhead spans. The effect of the windbreaks on increasing the turbulence intensity at the catenary level has been clearly observed. | |
