Emerging femtocell networks are conceived to extend radio coverage indoors, giving support to a high variety of services. The deployed femtocell network infrastructure can be used to provide accurate and reliable indoor location services based on Received Signal Strength Index (RSSI) and fingerprint location techniques. Besides, the Quality of Service (QoS) levels in indoor femtocell networks deployed in large enterprise scenarios, can be boosted by means of LTE networks? Self-Organizing (SON) capabilities. In this paper, the benefits of the synergies between fingerprint based indoor localization systems and SON techniques to provide better localization services, are presented. Self-Healing and Self- Optimization mechanisms can provide valuable information for the localization algorithms, like modifications in the femtocells transmitted power or femtocells which are in outage. | |
