The high ecological and economic relevance of Pinus pinaster in Southwestern Europe has driven the development of genomic resources in this species which may provide important tools for its improvement and management. Recently, efforts towards the functional analysis of a set of genes with potential critical roles in growth and development of P. pinaster have been developed within the frame of SUSTAINPINE project involving several European research groups. In this work, we describe the stable transformation of embryogenic cell lines for up and/or downregulation of 6 genes involved in embryogenesis (2), drought tolerance (3) and nitrogen metabolism (1). | |
