The PhD Student Jes\'us Pestana Puerta did a research stay in the Autonomous System Technologies Research \& Integration Laboratory (ASTRIL), under supervision of PhD Srikanth Saripalli in the period January 28th - July 15th, 2013. This laboratory is part of the School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) of the Arizona State University (ASU). His work at the ASTRIL has been divided in three parts: training and learning of software robotics skills, development of feasibility projects in aerial robotics involving the utilization of micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and the collaboration with various Geologists of the SESE. The robotic systems developed during the stay have resulted so far in the two following publications in IEEE conferences: \begin{itemize} \item % ACC2014, Visual Servoing \textbf{J. Pestana}, J. L. Sanchez-Lopez, S. Saripalli, P. Campoy. \textit{``Computer Vision Based General Object Following for GPS-denied Multirotor Unmanned Vehicles''}. In 2014 American Control Conference (ACC 2014). \item % SSRR2013, Visual Servoing \textbf{J. Pestana}, J. L. Sanchez-Lopez, S. Saripalli, P. Campoy. \textit{``Vision based GPS-denied Object tracking and Following for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles''}. \textbf{Best Paper Award Finalist} in 2013 The 11th IEEE International Symposium on Safety, Security, and Rescue Robotics (SSRR 2013). Link\"oping (Sweden). Oct 21-26, 2013. \end{itemize} The research stay was funded by the {UECIMUAVS USA and Europe Cooperation in Mini UAVs} (PIRSES-GA-2010) project, included in the Marie Curie Program FP7 . | |
