ABSTRACT Recently, CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramics with perovskite-like structure have attracted much attention due to their giant dielectric constant value (~105) which is almost constant in a broad frequency and temperature range. In this work, CCTO has been synthesized at 900 ºC by solid state reaction and following it has been SiO2 coated by sol-gel method at 0.5, 1, 2.5 and 5% wt. These materials have been thermally treated at 975 ºC, 1030 ºC and 1100 ºC. The obtained ceramics have been characterized in order to correlate the structural, microstructural and electrical properties. In summary, we have found that both the thermal treatments and the SiO2 content, modify the CCTO structure and microstructure due to the stabilization of different phases. This fact evidences that the grain boundary plays an important role over the electrical properties control. | |
