Descripción
Decarbonisation of urban mobility has become an unavoidable part of sustainability agenda. European daily mobility has risen differently among countries and consequently individual climate change impacts are not uniformly distributed. That is why this paper analyses the climate change impacts of daily mobility in two different countries: Spain and Belgium, having quite different trends in daily mobility. In order to study how these changes occur over a period of time, existing National Travel Surveys (NTSs) are used and a method is applied which allows estimating the carbon footprint associated with each trip and each surveyed individual. In this analysis of the evolution of climate impacts over a period of time, the outcomes show that Belgian travellers have decreased their number of trips and increased their use of public transport, which has led to decrease of CO, emissions; contrary to what was happening in Spain. The contributions of this paper have potential applications in the assessment of European urban transport policies related to low-carbon urban mobility
