Abstract

The equivalences between evanescent TM modes and negative permeability media and between periodic thin-wires structures and electric plasmas have been exploited, in order to design a periodic square waveguide that supports a backward-wave TM mode, whose equivalent transmission line can be considered as a Left-Handed Transmission Line (LHTL). Realizable waveguide fillings are proposed, and some theoretical and experimental results are presented. How to extract the ?macroscopic? parameters of the implemented artificial dielectric plasmas is also shown. | |
