This articleexplorestheinfluence oftheappearanceofmicropittingindifferenttypesofadditivesadded to apolyalphaolefinic low-viscositybaseoil,namelyapolyalphaolefin PAO6.Additivescommonlyused in mechanicaltransmissionsbygearswereused,i.e.,extremepressure,anti-wearandfrictionmodifier. For thestudy,wehaveconductedaseriesoftestsonadiscmachineundervariousoperating conditions. Thetemperatureandsurfaceroughnessofthetestspecimenshavebeenchangedinorderto study differentlubricantspecific film thicknesses,asthelastisoneofthemostinfluential parameterson the appearanceofmicropitting.
