The study of nanoparticles (NPs), and in particular their ability to be oriented in liquid crystal (LC) cells, is generating a lot of interest among the scientific community. The ability to control this alignment in the case of LC doped with conductive nanoparticles with high aspect ratio, which cause a change in the conductivity of the system, could enable the design of multiple applications, such as electrically controlled NP switches. The difference in conductivity between LC doped with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and undoped LC cells has been studied. However, this type of study had not been conducted in depth in the case of LC doped with gold nanowires (GNWs). In this work, the conductivity of the LC cell doped with GNWs has been studied in terms of impedance. The results obtained have been compared to the LC doped with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), with an aspect ratio similar to GNWs, and with the case of undoped LC cells. | |
