A waveguide diplexer with enhanced selectivity and low losses is presented for Ka-band applications. The key characteristic of the proposed diplexer is that combines two features which are very difficult to achieve simultaneously: i) an electrical performance with low insertion losses in two adjacent and highly selective channels with ii) a compact and robust structure suited for satellite applications with low-cost manufacturing by milling. Thus, all rounded edges and mechanical limitations are considered in the full-wave design in order to simplify the fabrication. Moreover, the introduction of controlled transmission zeros, implemented as extracted poles, reduces the order of the transfer function and, consequently, mass and volume are saved. The proposed structure has been manufactured on silver-plated invar and measured for space environment. Results show excellent fulfillment of the specifications. | |
