The Technical University of Madrid and the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), are working for IFAD on a project entitled "Assessment of Agricultural Informational Risk Management Information Systems (ARM-IS) in the following African Countries: Cape Verde, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal and Uganda. " This project focuses on the analysis of the availability of information in these countries on areas such as weather, climate, prices of inputs, agricultural markets, crop and livestock production, animal and plant health, agricultural policies, etc ..) and what quality, accessibility, frequency, etc, this information have, in order to carry out further analysis of agricultural and veterinary risks. The study will cover information at different levels of aggregation: from information at individual farm household level up to information at country level. The approach will be holistic, covering all sources of risks in agriculture, in particular information related to: Climatology and meteorology, satellite data, prices of commodities and inputs, access to markets, agricultural production and yields, agricultural, veterinarian pests and diseases and human health, and agricultural policies. | |
