This study is proposed as an approach to the town of Urueña, through the territorial structures that shape it. Here, monumental and fortified architectures and traditional constructions have been built by local materials. Stone and mud are the main elements used to harmonize buildings and natural environment. However new buildings have degraded the rural landscape. The scale and materials of these buildings not adapted to the natural order established for centuries and the hallmark of the place is lost. Not only the architectural features are important. The socio-economic and historical aspects are binding to rural areas. Livestock and agriculture have been the determining activities for development of the town in spite of the importance lordly represented with the monumental buildings of this place. After analyzing these concepts, the possibilities to intervene in the recovery of the vernacular, historical and cultural heritage that form the architecture of the villa and the landscape are valued. | |
