Este texto es un recuento de fricciones, de choques violentos, de colisiones entre arquitecturas, imágenes líricas y pensamientos que se desplazan acompañándose juntos por los cartílagos de la historia. Este texto también habla de atmósferas. Acostumbrados como estamos a una cierta pérdida de los límites materiales de nuestras arquitecturas desde la tecnología, quizás conviene rastrear cómo esa disolución de los límites se hizo posible en las civilizaciones antiguas. En el mundo romano las paredes de los edificios se disuelven con la pintura o con el arte del mosaico. Estas ilusiones son ventanas a otros mundos, a otros lugares quizás más sugerentes y hermosos que los simples trazados geométricos de las estancias. Los ejemplos desarrollados son sustanciales para conocer el modo en que a través de arquitecturas fingidas como en el caso de las pinturas de la villa de Boscoreale o a través de las representaciones de la naturaleza en el caso de las pinturas de la villa de Livia en Prima Porta, los artesanos romanos cambian la dimensión de las habitaciones para forzar la mirada y reconocer que detrás de las paredes y las tapias hay un mundo por descubrir. Siempre hemos pensado que el estudio de la antigüedad explica nuestro presente. Pero también es posible reflexionar como el conocimiento de nuestro presente inoculado en la antigüedad hace que esta mute, que se matice y que podamos entenderla con mayor nitidez. Este es uno de los objetivos de este texto. This text is a report about the violent collisions between architectures, lyrical images and thoughts that move together through the cartilage of the History. This text also deals with atmospheres. We are used to erase the material limits of our architectures thanks to technology, perhaps we should now find out how the dissolution of the limits could happen in the ancient civilizations. In the Roman world, the walls of the buildings become dissolved with paintings or mosaics. These illusions are windows to other worlds, with more suggestive and beautiful places than the simple geometric patterns of the rooms. By analyzing the paintings in the villa of Boscoreale or nature representations in villa of Livia in Prima Porta, we can know the way that roman craftsmen changed the dimension of the rooms through fake architectures that create new looks and show that behind the walls there is a new world to discover. We have always thought that the study of the Past explains our Present. But it is also possible to think about the knowledge of our present that once injected in antiquity makes it change in order to understand it more clearly. This is one of the objectives of this text.
