Forestry waste(eucalyptussp)wasconvertedintoactivatedcarbonbyinitialflash pyrolysis followedcarbonizationandCO2 activation. Theseresidueswereobtained from apilotplantinSpainthatproducesbiofuel,thebiocharrepresented10?15% in weight.Itwasobservedthatthehighestactivationwasachievedatatemperature of 800°C,thespecificsurfaceincreasedwithtimebut,onthecontrary,highlossof matter wasobserved.At600°C,althoughtherewasanimportantincreaseofthe specific surfaceandthevolumeofmicropores,atthistemperatureitwasobserved that theactivationtimewasnotaninfluentialparameter.Finally,at400°Citwas observed thattheactivationprocesswasnotverysignificant.Assessingtheaverage pore diameteritwasfoundthatthelowestvaluecorrespondedtotheactivation temperature of600°C,whichindicatedthedevelopmentofmicroporosity.When the activationtemperatureincreasesupto800°Ctheporediameterincreased developing mesoporosity | |
