This paper describes the results of a study conducted to the tourism sector of Guatemala during the first half of the year 2015, in which it was determined the extent of use of information technology (ICT) in the main companies in the country, which are mostly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Subsequently, this work evaluates the competitiveness of the tourist industry, to verify the impact of the use or lack of IT in their business management.
