This paper presents the results of the systematization of an experience linked to a project for a new Venezuelan steelmaker in the framework of a process of International Technology Transfer (ITT). Under a universityenterprise relationship the training a group of 120 new engineering professionals for the creation of learning communities that shape the future steelmaker organization was undertaken. The aim of the study was oriented to systematize the lessons and practices to reinforce learning during the process of appropriation of knowledge and technology under a proposed methodology. It was addressed from an actionresearch strategy under a design approach starting from a methodological proposal that takes shape with actors involved. The results of the first phase of the process of technological appropriation for the operation of the new steelmaker are oriented toward mastery of the information obtained from the supplier and the strengthening of knowledge in the steelmaking processes. Lessons learned were announced in the different perspectives: group, organizational and social, methodological and cultural. Among the challenges that participants faced is the language barrier that prevents them from interacting seamlessly with the technology provider as well as maintaining individual motivation and group cohesion. This first phase of the process (actionresearch) allows us to conclude on the power of joint and articulated universitybusiness collaboration. The interaction of knowledge in multidisciplinary teams means a lever for learning and socialization of knowledge that occurs when interactions are facilitated from the steel specialists to engineers seeking to consolidate their training.
