This paper presents the innovative link budget computation and analysis tool recently developed as a joint effort between Hispasat, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and GMV. It is a web-based tool providing comprehensive support for a wide range of link budget computations and analysis, including the presentation of the results by means of highly configurable reports and, in a more visual way, using many different types of maps. The tool has been designed to fulfill the most demanding requirements in terms of computations to be supported, functionality, usability and configurability as set out by Hispasat?s sales engineering team throughout all the development process. As other relevant features it is worth mentioning the possibility for external end customers to access to the tool, an HCI design maximizing the usability as well a database driven design, allowing to support any future satellite only by configuration. The tool is currently being commercialized by GMV under the name of smartHz. | |
