Abstract
Leaf senescence is a crucial physiological process that involves a massive degradation of macromolecules to recycle nutrients from leaves to sink tissues for plant survival. C1A Cysteine Proteases and their inhibitors, cystatins, are strongly induced in response to senescence mediated by abiotic stresses like drought. Our main goal is to study HvIcy-2 and HvIcy-4 barley cystatins and the implication in this process
