We report on a study about a new optical hyperthermia technology capable of inducing slowdown in the progression of an experimental, high-grade glioma, then extremely aggressive, CT2A glioblastoma tumor in-vivo model, using biofunctionalized gold nanorods as agents for thermal energy delivery from a laser source. Since the CT2A tumor model exhibits common features with the human astrocytoma disease it becomes an excellent candidate to assay our proposed methodology. | |
