| This paper evaluates spatial equity impacts due to HSR investments in Spain in the 1990-2015 period. For this purpose, accessibility values are computed for successive periods of 5 years. The accessibility measure used is the Potential Accessibility Indicator, and computations are supported by a Geographical Information System (GIS). Impacts are assessed analysing the changes in accessibility patterns, and their spatial distribution. The effects are assessed both in terms of improvements in accessibility and of changes in the distribution of accessibility values. The new HSR lines have significantly increased accessibility levels of the Spanish population to most destinations. | |
