Abstract
Recently, the ETSIT-UPM's Microwave and Radar Research Group (GMR, SSR, ETSIT, UPM), designed and built a short range Ground-Based-Rotating Synthetic Aperture Radar (GB-ROSAR), in millimeter wave bands, in order to evaluate the potential of this technique and its posible applications. Usually, these types of radars are used to obtain images with high resolution without having to embark them. However, this work proposes to make use of this system to very accurately detect and locate targets in the explored area. For this purpose, a set of algorithms aimed at the extraction and measurement of these targets have been developed and validated. The results obtained by simulation and experimentally demonstrate the advantages of this technique compared to those used in conventional radars, allowing the implementation of the Track-While-Scan (TWS) functionality with excellent performance.
