Two grapevine training systems (vertical shoot-positioned and Sprawl) were compared for their effects on yield, must composition and polyphenolic evolution in Vitis Vinifera L. cv Tempranillo grafted onto 140R. The trial was developed during 2012 and 2013 in Albacete (Spain). Two levels of shoot density (shoot density/area) were stablished (LD-Low density and HD-High density) to compare these systems for Tempranillo aging wines production. The evolution of phenolic compounds during maturation was different in each case, although the grapes obtained had similar characteristics, and were suitable for their purpose. No significant differences were observed in the composition of the musts; however, despite the training system, higher yields were obtained in the high density vines , which means an advantage from the vineyard economy. | |
