Added value of the mobility (in the context of the modernisation and internationalisation strategies of the institutions involved): I expect that the PhD student will defend his Thesis during the second semester of 2018. The thesis will receive an ?International Mention? provided that the student has done a 3-month stay at Tokyo Tech and that Prof. Akasaka will travel to Madrid to take part of the defense committee. During this mobility, we will prepare the structure of the thesis manuscript and academic contributions. Activities to be carried out: ? Summarization of all the nanomeasurements performed on different specimens manufactured at UPM and determination of the root causes at the nanoscale level explaining the improvement in the macromechanical properties detected through the measurements at UPM. ? Determination of tests and measurements to be done in order to complete the observations. ? Execution and analysis of further measurements at Tokyo Tech. ? Planning of articles to be published and PhD thesis manuscript structure. Expected outcomes and impact (e.g. on the professional development of the staff member and on both institutions): The work peformed so far will give rise to several joint publications (two manuscripts almost ready to be submitted) synthesizing the work performed by Tokyo Tech and UPM in the enhancement of the mechanical properties of carbon polymer nanocomposites. As a next step, we will investigate the use of the resulting nanocomposite as a part of carbon fiber-epoxy composites. | |
