Descripción
There is enough evidence to link wine culture with the sustainable development of vinicultural territories. In the first place, wine culture is the reflection of the vinicultural use of territories and, therefore, reflects the vine and wine culture effect on the historical, social and economic development of the regions. The exploitation of wine culture through wine tourism experiences gave a large revaluation of many vinicultural territories, promoting social and economic development, together with promoting the environmental conservation of the territory. This fact is clearly stated in the Vademecum of European Wine Tourism which highlights the importance of the oenological-cultural value of enotourism resources and services. The wine culture is not only the thematic axis of enotouristic activities, it is the essential base and pillar of them, so without wine culture, there is no wine tourism. All of this implies a direct relationship with environmental, economic and social sustainability. In addition, as wine culture is centred on the characteristics associated with each territory, which contribute to distinguish each one, wine culture contribute to the cultural sustainability. Finally, it is analysed the contribution of wine culture to political sustainability, linked, among other factors, to the promotion of solidarity relations among countries, nations, communities, etc., which is fostered through the development of synergies and cultural collaborations which are essential for the development of successful wine tourism projects such as Wine Route
