This paper firstly presents a preliminary statistical analysis of the uncertain variables involved in the market for the provision of the manual frequency restoration reserves, also called the tertiary regulation service, of the Spanish electric power system. The statistical analysis is based on calculating the well- known Pearson?s correlation coefficient for 41 candidates of explanatory variables. Secondly, several forecasting models are proposed and compared. Results of this paper show low correlations for the upward and downward tertiary regulation energy, and high correlations between three explanatory variables and the upward and downward tertiary regulation prices. The proposed SARIMA models for the tertiary regulation energy seems to prove that they have a positive impact in comparison to naive forecasting models whereas, for the tertiary regulation prices, the former seem to suffer to enhance naive forecasting models | |
