| Some mechanical systems, such as circuits, multi-body systems, can be obtained from interconnecting simpler systems by using the existing open ports in a suitable way. Dirac structures have been long used to describe port-Hamiltonian systems. Here, we will describe the interconnecting problem using the novel approach of coisotropic structures.
