Ponencia invitada. Entidad Organizadora: Swedish Road Administration VTI. Transferring the whole traffic risk to the concessionaire has not worked well in transportation concessions. Many countries are implementing new approaches for mitigating traffic risk on the basis of symmetrically sharing gains and losses. Variable duration mechanisms, such are LPVR, seems to be the most attractive ones for the public sector. Up to now, these mechanisms have not boomed because they have failed to set up a correct incentive profile for the private sector.
