Temperature history of the welded components has a significant influence on the structural changes, residual stresses and strains field. Mechanical and microstructural modifications of the welded joint depend on the thermal processes developed during the welding. Several theoretical investigations on dissimilar metals welded joints are presented in this paper, assuming a circular heat source. Finite element method analysis is applied for the temperatures prediction and heat affected zone extension in case of the spot fusion welding. Temperature variation over thickness is neglected and heat flow is considered two-dimensional in case of the thin sheets. Convection and radiation influence and thermo-physical properties, depending on the temperature, are considered in the mathematical model developed by authors. Analytical mathematical relations for the maximum temperatures calculus depending on time are also presented in the paper. Conclusions on the element finite method analysis of low carbon steel-stainless steel and low carbon steel-copper welding simulation are finally presented. | |
